Day
1 Tuxtla - Gutiérrez - Cañon de Sumidero - San
Cristóbal de las Casas
We pick you up at the airport in Tuxtla Gutierrez and then will
drive to Rio Grijalva and Cañon del Sumidero - home of
a great variety of flora and fauna (crocodiles, monkeys, birds).
Afterwards, we will visit the colonial city of San Cristóbal
de las Casas which was founded in 1524 by Diego de Mazariegos.
Then, we will bring you to your hotel and you can spend the
rest of the day on your own.
Day 2 Lagos de Montebello
At 09:00 am we will leave the hotel and make the first stop
at the caves of "Rancho Nuevo", then we drive towards
Amatenango del Valle which is a community of potteries. Afterwards
we will visit the archaeological site of Tenan Puente and then
we drive to Lagos de Montebello (6-9 lakes). At around 06:00
pm we wil return to the hotel.
Day 3 San Cristobal de las Casas - Indian towns
After breakfast we will drive to San Juan Chamula where you
will learn something about the old religion of the Tzotzil.
Then, we drive to Zinacatan where you will visit the church
and the house of a family where you will try a delicious liquor
while you watch the labour on a loom. After having returned
to San Cristóbal de las Casas, you can spend the rest
of the day on your own.
Day 4 San Cristobal de las Casas - Agua Azul - Misol Ha -
Palenque
Early in the morning we drive to Ocosingo where we will enjoy
our breakfast. Afterwards, we head to Agua Azul where you can
swim and enjoy the cystal blue, warm water. Then we will come
to he Misol-Ha waterfalls which are surrounded by the tropical
jungle. The last highlight of this day will be the visit of
the archaeological site of Palenque and then we return to the
hotel.
Day 5 Palenque - Bonampak - Yzxchilan - Palenque
Early in the morning, directly after breakfast, we will start
the day with the visit of the archaeological site of Bonampak
where you will see the best mural paintings of the Mayas. Then,
we will drive to "Escudo Jaguar" from where we will
start a boat trip which will take approx. 1 hour. During this
trip on the Rio Usumacinta, we will visit the archaeolgical
site of Yaxchilan. Afterwards, we will proceed to Palenque and
then go back to the hotel.
Day 6 Palenque - Museo La Venta - Villa Hermosa
After breakfast we will drive to Villahermosa to visit the "La
Venta" museum. Afterwards, we bring you to the airport.
